May Madness

Yes yes, it is already June, but we are talking about the May that went by. It zoomed past me with such speed that I couldn't even get down to collect my thoughts.Just recollecting what it was all about.

As Ananya's summer camp came to an end, we prepared for a weekend trip to Goa. Goa is hot in May, and we witnessed it in all it's splendour. Though the mornings and evenings were cool, the afternoons were sweltering and lazy. Spent most of them inside the hotel. Ananya totally loved the experience and wanted to stay there '20' days, the most that she can count to till now. She wasn't too kicked about the beach but she enjoyed the pool.

Next on anvil was my Ludhiana trip. Hurriedly booked last minutes tickets to Delhi and got to fly Kingfisher, which was as expensive as the other lousy airlines at that time. They didn't disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed the flight and the in-flight entertainment kept Ananya busy. Time in Ludhiana flew in a blaze.. yet again. It was great to meet up with Vikram and Ramneet, especially after the January fiasco. It was as if life was back to the good old days, lazing around with mummy fussing over us. Papa was there too and it was a week to cherish time spent with the whole family. Ananya was enamoured by her mama-mami and she even preferred them over the dogs. She didn't want to come back to school and routine.

The rest of the May was taken over by IPL. Starting from the first match which we watched live at the stadium in Bangalore where the Kolkata Knight Riders routed the Royal Challengers, we were hooked. In the early matches it was difficult to tell who played for which team, but by the second round, the strong and the weak teams were distinctive. While I mourned for the Mumbai Indians not making it into the semi-final, I was ecstatic with the Rajasthan Royals performances. Shane Warne was so impressive, his total involvement in the game, his eye for detail, his constant support to his team mates, I was just bowled over. Shane Watson was another one who was in superb form and buoyed by Warne's support and encouragement he performed like never before. In the finals, I rooted for the Royal Rajasthans and the last ball victory was total paisa-vasool. Not having more matches to watch, has left a void in the evenings. Nothing comes close to this reality show !!

Ravi had to travel two days after we came back and it has been a lonely one week without him. Watched all the semi-final and final matches alone with only a phone to discuss the results with Mummy or Mausaji in Ludhiana. For the final I called up Ravi and gave him the account of the last 3 balls, when I couldn't bear to watch it alone anymore.

That was May for us.. and with Ananya's school opening from today, it is going to be different sort of rush that June is going to be. Hopefully, she will settle in well and soon enough, we'll be in the routine of things. Nothing works better for your sanity than a routine to be followed each day.
